Discover The Power Of An Online Ministry Video Plan
The growth in numbers of people on the internet has spurred an interest in online ministry video for those serious about their vision.to impact the world for Jesus Christ. It is an opportunity to tap into the great harvest available online, to reach the uttermost parts of the world. As Jesus commanded:"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost"
A powerful example of online ministry video can be seen by Streaming Faith, Lightsource.com, XP Media, among many other excellent ministries who see the advantage of using the internet for the Gospel.
Even the major Christian television stations have their programs readily available with video online, right down to applications for I-Phones and other smart phones.
No doubt people, whether at home or on their phone, are online. The fact that 60% of all internet traffic is video watching and that YouTube is the second largest search engine, should get any minister of the Gospel thinking about taking advantage of those watching eyes.
Or how about these stats from Comscore.com, the leader in measuring the digital world: "80 million U.S. Internet users watched online videoduring the month. YouTube delivered video to morethan 135 million viewers during the month, reaching 3out of every 4 online video viewers at an average of 96 videos per viewer."
I love reading how leaders in the marketplace are seeing the amazing value of having a ministry marketing plan. Devin Maddux of ResonateOrDie.com states:
"But what if you adjusted your understanding of the word "marketing" to a more accurate definition? What if "marketing" could be reclaimed for the Gospel?
"Evangelical theologian and scholar Carl F. H. Henry once said, "The Gospel is only good news if it gets there in time." As ministers of the Gospel, we need to be quicker and more persuasive than Madison Avenue. It is our mission, and it is your responsibility, to "market" your ministry if you are driven by the Great Commission."
Just recently I read another great blog post on this change today toward the internet in regards to ministry. Carol Howard Merit writes in her post "Virtual Community", how she remembered 17 years ago when her husband worked in the computer department at Sam's Club. He came home one day talking about the super information highway coming on the internet, she recalled.
Now, the reality is here in how she depends on the internet.
She writes: "Even though it feels like an either/or proposition-as if we must choose to spend time with either our church community or the computer-it is not. When I consider the carefully crafted emails about deep pastoral issues that appear in my inbox in the middle of the night, I know we cannot ignore the radical changes of the last ten years, nor can we disregard the evolutions in the years to come. Time on the computer is real ministry." (Carol Howard Merit).
Our online video ministry, called Firebrand Ministry, is set up on a Wordpress.org blog. I loaded it with lots of great built in mechanisms that not only help get it noticed by the search engines but also help us keep track of who is watching our videos.
For example, we are noticing an international audience growing with this online video ministry. Last week we had visitors from Germany, France, Pakistan, Tawain, China and Argentina...Just to name a few countries.
To learn more about establishing your own online video ministry, DTC Ministry Marketing has set up a basic training series introducing ministry online to Christian ministries.
You may wonder if your ministry could take advantage of the internet and really do this.
I say yes! And I see many great efforts by ministers with limited resources at the time.
Check out Firebrand's ministry partner from the UK, Evangelist Ben Bennett. By using simple audio and his own slide creations from photo shop, Evangelist Ben shares his heart and God's Word with his own online ministry video program. Most of his videos can be seen at his Facebook page as well as his own site.
