Not many things about raising teenage girls are easy; buying her Christmas presents is not an exception. You know that the chances of your little princess liking everything you’ve carefully picked out, wrapped, and put under the tree, are pretty slim. Stocking stuffers also present a little bit of a problem to parents who are eager to please. While small games, crayons, doll clothes and some candy were once suitable stocking stuffers your little girl needed, times have changes. Get your teenager gifts she’ll love with these stocking stuffer tips.

  • Gift Certificates/Cards: Women and shopping have a love affair that has extended through the ages. Money can often seem impersonal and your child may waste it on various items and never really benefit from your cash gift. Much like cash, gift cards and certificates offer freedom of choice to recipients, while at the same time giving you some control as to where the money will be spent. You can your daughter gift certificates to her favorite clothing store, a book or music store, or even the electronics store. Many stores offer gift cards that you can use in store or online, so if your daughter loves a store that’s not local to your area, consider buying her a gift card from there so she can shop online.

  • Makeup/Beauty Products: The teenage years are when many girls begin to become self aware. They are more likely to spend time on their hair, apply makeup, and want to indulge in perfumes, nail polish, and other rite of passage beauty products. Fill your daughter’s Christmas stocking with a light, fragrant body sprays; like lip gloss, eye shadow, and other makeup products that you approve of; as well as other beauty essentials like nail polish, hair spray, and moisturizers. While giving your teenager makeup can seem scary to you, purchasing it for her can help you lead her in the right direction as she matures. In other words, you can go ahead and by her some simple black mascara or she can go out and buy bright blue mascara on her own.

  • Fashion Accessories: For most teenage girls, growing up requires a wardrobe transformation. They leave behind the simple shirts and pants that got them this far in search of something a little more "fashionable." Typically speaking most girls will want clothing and accessories that correspond to current trends. Look for popular accessories like jewelry, hats, leggings, and tights. Buying her jewelry doesn’t have to cost a fortune since the latest trend in bracelets and necklace are often inexpensive plastic pieces like bangle bracelets and beaded necklace. Leggings and tights are also big this year so buy her a few pairs in colors that will compliment her wardrobe.

  • Necessities: Your daughter needs little things that make life easier. Fill her stocking with things she can’t do without but doesn’t want to buy like a deodorant, a pack of breath freshening gum in a few different flavors, and fun pens, pencils, and other school supplies. These are little things that your daughter may not want but definitely could use.
