Employees are often demanded to do the impossible, inevitably leading to much stress. Unreasonable managers enforce unrealistic deadlines to meet useless goals. Choices can still be found by persons finding themselves in these circumstances.

While you work toward a long-term cure for your stress, a dozen different exercises can produce short-term reduction in your stress levels. An affected immune system, tensed up muscles, and shallow breathing are all well known to be caused by stress. Use direct action to get rid of these.

Slowly take a few deep cleansing breaths. Allowing yourself to expand the chest can relieve tension around the center of the body, without having to go into a Zen-like state. Make sure your shoulders and armed are stretched. Slowly move your head to the left, then to the right. Next, you should flex your calves.

Take a moment to renew your thoughts, as well. Concentration and the ability to focus are often reduced by stress. Because stress causes you to focus on your own anger instead of the world around you, it can lead to worse memory.

Continue breathing deeply, shut your eyes and meditate for a few moments. This does not need to be any type of deep relaxation, just a little time to let the outside world go. When you do this, let go of the stress and hostility you are experiencing. Imagine the things that mean the most to you - your children, the house you're saving for, that big promotion - whatever works to motivate you and makes you feel good.

The beginnings of the problem can be worked on after you have worked on the symptoms.

Many decide to open businesses. This choice will create more challenges, but the biggest benefit is the chance to meet them. You will probably get zip in recognition, when you put in extra hours. However, even without the big external rewards, internal rewards like satisfaction and a feeling of control are often said to be a big incentive to help you continue to try.

Some other people will try to bring about positive change with the current company. People find that they feel better when they act to improve their fate, even if they aren't very successful.

They may also try to find work elsewhere within the firm, or plan the "going away party" for that hard-nosed boss. Keep in mind, in any company, people are always being promoted, transferred, retiring, changing jobs, etc., thus causing things to change on a regular basis

When you are waiting for circumstances to change, focus on the process, not so much on the results. Keep a clear mind about what you can and cannot control. Don't let what you can't control matter much. Search for cooperative people in the business, and do not let yourself get weighed down with trying to alter the others.

Outside the work environment, you may find it beneficial to vent to supportive friends and family members. Concentrate on the job when at work.
