Unless you address why you over-eat you will always have to diet (what an awful thought. SO it is time to get real..Think about the true answer to these questions:
? Are you blaming the past...Johnny did xyz to me & that is why I eat
? Are you dwelling on the past...If we had had more food as a kid....
? Are you blaming other people...All of my family are big
Well it is time to take responsibility for yourself
Dealing with the past:
If you have a specific issue that you feel needs dealing with before you can move on & get healthier for good then be determined to sort out your feeling.
Something that I personally do/have done is to write a letter to the person who has wronged you (don't worry I am not suggesting you send it)
but write down exactly how you feel now and how you felt when it happened.
I have written a sample letter below & I have used these following "headings" that I have numbered so that you can see what I mean.
You did XXX to me (1)
How it made me feel (2)
How I felt up to this point(3) Up to this point (use these words as it indicates to your subconscious that it is time to move on).......
But NOW(4)
To ME:(5)
(1)Jason,
as a teenage you bullied me, belittled me and physically assaulted me
(2) I feel angry with you for doing this to me, you dis-empowered me, you made me feel pathetic and ashamed of who I am. You were unfair and to physically hit me, you were cruel, nasty and a complete pig.
(3)Up to this point I have neglected myself because I felt that you were right, I have not looked after myself because I felt worthless due to your mistreatment.
I felt angry at you, I felt angry at myself for being so pathetic to let you do this to me.
I feel sad and worthless
(4)Jason, I am reclaiming my life back, I am going to forgive myself for letting you effect me this way. Jason, you were wrong, I am a fantastic human being and I am worth looking after. There is no point in not forgiving you for the crap that you put me through
so I forgive you,
I forgive so that I can be free and claim back my self respect, my power and start to love myself again.
(5)I am a beautiful inside and out, now that I can forgive the past I can move on and become the person that I want to be. I can be thinner and healthier, I no longer need to rely on food for comfort. I can now start to enjoy my life and I am ready to move on
This process is not easy..you will feel angry, you will probably cry but at the end you should feel lighter and happier.
I normally have a ritual burning of my letters (it just seems appropriate to me)
I actually do this process with any situation/issue that I feel that I have been holding onto and is getting in the way of my progression.
At the end of the day it is your life & you can take responsibility for it anytime you like
The past does not equal the future:
However many times that you have tried to diet before and not got the results that you want..Just means that you have learned what not to do
..excellent..So don't do that again!
The past does not equal the future - you can do this
See yourself as you will be:
Your mind is an amazing thing, if you start telling yourself something your subconscious cannot determine what is true or false.
So by looking at yourself and believing that you are your goal weight, you are the size that you would like to be already..wow it will be so much easier
I truly hope that this has helped you move forward in finding the YOU that YOU are happy with..I have some amazing products to recommend that may also help
