Transcendental Meditation was initiated by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi who was born and raised in India but now lives in the Netherlands. Transcendental Meditation is supposed to be different from all other forms of meditation since it aims to bring to the practitioner a new level of consciousness. It claims to do this through the chanting of a special mantra which every practitioner believes is exclusive to him. Ever since its introduction, more than 6 million people worldwide have become avid practitioners of transcendental meditation.
