If your home based business does not have a web page, well, you are definitely missing a lot. In todays world, a home business without a web page is like a business without an address or a phone number.

Without a web page, potential customers will not be able to find you and worse, they would not even know you exist at all. It serves like poster printing does, hence, whatever your business is, whether you are providing cleaning services, pest control or selling home-made cup cakes, it is important that you have your own.

It is now essential to know how you should build a web page after having established the importance of having it.

Having it is easy. However, building one takes a lot of time and creativity. What you want to have is one that grabs the attention of surfers. This is just half of the battle. The other half is to entice them to act – to buy the service or the product. These are the two things that you want your web page to do - catch attention, and entice your browsers to buy.

In order for your web page to do this, follow these guides:

  1. It should answer a question – Visitors surf the internet because they need to find out something. The first thing visitors should see in your web page screaming as if poster printing is the answer to the questions of your customers or clients. Where can I have my car fixed? Who can fix my leaking pipe? Who can install the wall brackets for my new LED TV? Questions like these need straightforward answers. Your answers should speak directly to the customers or clients.

  2. It should be user friendly – How many times have you visited a site that you cannot navigate properly? On the other hand, click a link that goes nowhere? These are some common problems that visitors encounter. Your visitor might do two things. One, they may give up looking at your site. Press the back key to the search results page. Two, never return to your site ever again. This means that the first time you upload your website, you should be able to do it properly or else, you are not only losing your customer now, you end up losing future customers as well.

  3. Put some testimonials – People like to know what other people say or think about your product or services. If there are good testimonials about the product, it might be able to achieve your second objective of enticing your visitors to buy. You must be wary however, because even if you have a thousand people saying how well your product or service is, if even one has a very bad review, which is enough to damage your business’ reputation.

These are just some guides, there are more in the internet that you can pick and learn from. The important thing here is you must understand and be able to harness the power of the internet.
