A recent study shows that the growth rate of Chinese person's waist is actually highest in the world. The study, published in the United States Health Affairs, said China had a population of 325 million obese people and the increasing range was higher than U.S., UK and Australia. This figure may also be doubled in the next 20 years.

The number of China's obesity is increasing at an alarming rate. In 1982, 7% of China's population was identified as overweight while this proportion rose to 15% in 2006. 9000 million in this group are chronic obesity. Now, one in four adults is overweight. Researchers surveyed 20,000 people of their dietary changes in China found that about 1.2% of people become obese every year in recent 15 years. The waist circumference increased by 1 per inch means the risk of suffering from cancer will increase 8 times. At the same time, Chinese obese children increased almost 28 times in 15 years, nearly one in five children under 7 years old are overweight and 7% of children is obese. The ratio is much higher than European countries. Experts believe that fast-paced life in china lead dietary structure of modern people transferred from partial vegetarian diet to partial meat diet and fast food, besides, exercise and the chance of manual labor are reduced. All of them are the main reasons for obesity in people. It is worth notice that the obesity standard of Chinese people is different to other countries. The characteristics in china are small size, small index, big belly and big damage.

Working Group on Obesity in China of the International Life Sciences Institute carried out a related survey in many China cities and found three common errors on losing weight.

Misunderstanding One: the purpose of weight loss is incorrect. 80.7% of respondents are to maintain a good shape, only 24.3% of the people are to good health.

Misunderstanding Two: give up if not success in short-term

31% of respondents want to lose more than 10 kg in a short-term. They will give up if it is not effective in one or two months.

Misunderstanding Three: do not listen to doctors and coaches

46% of people would not consider the weight loss program established by the doctor or fitness coach. In the scientific weight loss method, aerobic exercise such as jogging and swimming is the best. In general, aerobic exercise should be continued for 30 minutes to one hour.
