I'm going to have a bit of a discussion about a Texas Hold Em Tournament Rule because sometimes people don't know what they can and can't do.

I'm going to talk about a Texas Hold Em Tournament Rule or two and also a little bit about cash games. The idea is to give you a better understanding of what you can and can't do in a poker tournament. I'll start with cash games as a point of reference.

Q: What if you are playing a cash game and run out of chips?

If you go broke in a cash game you can simply buy more chips and continue playing, as long as you have enough money. However, you cannot buy more chips during a hand, as in while you are in the middle of a hand, you can only buy more chips between hands.

Q: What if you are in a tournament and lose all your chips?

If you go broke in a tournament game you must get up and leave the table. You are out of the tournament.

Q: What if two players go out of a tournament at the same time on the final table.

If two players go out at the same time on any of the money tables at the end of a tournament, including the final table, the player who started the and with the most chips will win the higher prize.

Q: What if I don't have enough money for the buy-in for a tournament

You can play a satellite game for a fraction of the price of a real tournament and you can win an entry into the tournament. You could play a cash game to get enough money to be able to pay the buy-in. You can offer shares of your tournament winnings to other people in order to get enough for the buy-in but this usually requires you to have some sort of track record so people will be confident you have a chance of winning some money.

There is more then one Texas Hold Em Tournament rule that you will have to learn. Its like learning a whole new rule book. First you have to learn Texas Hold Em Poker and the rules how to play, then there is a whole different set of rules for tournament play. However, Texas Hold Em Tournaments are an excellent way to learn how to become a good poker player and you will possibly make some money at the same time. So stick with it, sooner or later your bound to succeed.
