Of course you want to have lost any excess weight before becoming pregnant. Sometimes life happens unexpectedly and after just finding out your are pregnant, you still want to lose those few extra pounds.
Make sure that you follow doctor’s advice and he gives you the okay for losing those extra pounds. Your body is going through many changes from hormonal changes to physical ones.
While pregnant you want to stay very healthy and avoid all strict diet plans. Obviously you want your baby to be born as healthy as possible and you want to be in the position to recover from the pregnancy easily.
The average weight gain on a pregnant mom-to-be is around 30-50 pounds. This can easily vary but this average weight loss is due to the enlargement of the uterus, the placenta, and multiple fluids throughout the body. During pregnancy there are many cravings your body will go through. Some cravings involve late night snacks of chips or ice cream, or everybody’s’ favorite being chocolate. You upmost concern is that you do not put on extra fat, neither you nor your baby need this!
One of the best ways to lose weight is by learning how to eat healthy. You want to eat from all the food groups and realize that protein is important to your well being, along with carbohydrates. Nothing is categorized as ‘bad’, watch your portion sizes and have a piece of chocolate if you really want it. Don’t get into the habit of saying to yourself that you can never eat this or that again!
One easy trick is just to eat smaller portions more times throughout the day. Plus eating on a smaller plate, fools your eye into thinking you are eating a lot more than you really are.
Another great idea for weight loss while pregnant is to start walking, just begin with 10 minutes out and turn around and head home. Any small step will get you on the path to success quickly.
There are many pregnancy diets and weight loss books on the market today, research a weight loss method that has been proven and gives you ongoing support. Weight loss can be safe and effective while pregnant if you just take the correct precautions.
