Time Management - The Art of Focus, Organization and Understanding Yourself

Have you ever kept track of the amount of times you've said "I wish I had more time." To be honest, I haven't either but we all know it's a lot more than we'd like to have to say it. Time management is often overlooked or not taken seriously, yet it's a proven fact that it is the key to personal and career success. We've (as in the Quit Your Job Early crew) have all been working on our time management skills and we've all seen huge improvements in our lives. If you follow these same principals, we can almost guarantee you'll see a huge difference in the your ability to achieve your goals on a weekly basis.

The first thing that you need to accept is that time is limited. It is impossible to pause, rewind or fast forward time... eventhough we all know it would be nice to do so at times. We all have 24 hours in a day which means that if you don't use those hours wisely you will never get them back. There are no redo's when it comes to time. If there is one thing you get from this article, please make it that - imprint it on your brain. Time is limited!!!

Too many people like to complain that they don't have enough time. Don't be one of those people. Don't blame time. We are guilty of this, and I used to be as bad as anyone but... the reality is that you, nor I, can blame time for EVERYTHING!!! I used to say, there's not enough time for exercise, not enough to and make calls, it enough to spend with friends and family... and on, and on, and on. Remember that all time management does is ensure that you are using your time in better ways, therefore rather than blaming time, look at what you're doing with your time and fix it.

For anything you want to do in life, it's going to take some amount of time. Waiting for time will never happen. The thing about time is that when you give something some time, even when it's just an hour a week, you'll be surprised how much you can accomplish within that hour. That is, of course, only if you focus during that hour. The other thing that happens when you focus, you create a 'success' in what ever it is that you are doing and that success leads to confidence and confidence leads to more success.

There's an old saying that a mentor of mine used to say which went like this... "little, by little, by little, by large." Keep that saying mind as you attempt to find time in your life for the 'little' things that are going to bring you closer to your goals and you'll find that as the days and weeks go by, your successes will become bigger and bigger.

The other important factor when it comes to time management is to make sure you are organized. I recently spend 3 weekends in a row, organizing so that I could be more efficient with my time. All I can say about that is WOW, what a difference. In my mind, it was challenging to spend that time, because it felt like I was falling behind, but in reality, I put myself in a position to accomplish so much more because of it.

Hopefully some of these tips help. For more information on how to manage your time better, go to QuitYourJobEarly.com.
