The NLP Model: Eye Accessing Cues

The Eye Accessing Cues is one of the nlp model in study eyes movement to determine what state the person are currently in. Extend from this, we can even study which character the person belong to from the experience of which sensory modality the person use most frequent. The below is the 7 major movement of the eye and each carry a state of mind. (The below explanation is only apply to right-handed person).

Eyes Up & Right (VR) – Visual Remembered: This is where images from our experience that stored in our memory; it can be a still or moving picture.

Eyes Up & Left (VC) – Visual Construct: This is where people imagine or constructing new images or something visually. But it can happen that the person integrated at least two or more constructed images (created in the moment before) then to create a new one. So, it is not necessary total a new one.

Eyes To The Right (AR) – Auditory Recall: Remembering some sounds or voice that are from experiences, it can be a conversation, song, noise, word, scream, music etc.

Eyes To The Left (AC) – Auditory Construct: Sounds are created for this eye movement. For instance, can you imagine what is the sound when you speak while you still brushing your teeth? You can check this out by yourself in front of a mirror.

Eyes Down & Right (AD) – Internal dialogue: Usually it means that person is having internal conversation with themselves. When a person is having internal dialogue, they will usually go off all the external experiences and only concentrating in the conversation process. This normally will happen when a person in consideration of decision making.

Eyes Down & Left (K) – Kinesthetic: This is usually indicating that a person is experiencing a feeling, emotion or body sensation.

Looking Ahead – This happen when the person are focusing at the present
This nlp model, eye accessing cues may help us to understand which is our leader or preferred representation system. This is because every one of us has the habitual in eye movement and that are direct relate to the sensory modality that we are using. For instance, some people will do their thinking by using internal picture, so their eye movement will be very different from those which are using internal dialogue or auditory.
