Why Study Chinese?

Foreigners who study Chinese boost in number. Nowadays, Mandarin Chinese is spoken by more than 1 billion people all over the world, occupying one fifth of the population world wide. According to research, most of those people usually come from Japan, Korea or people who are Chinese foreigners. Why they study Chinese?

For full acquaintance, you should do more than attending Chinese training classes or Chinese language teaching courses, you also need to read famous Chinese novels, short stories, poetry, drama, watch Chinese films, TV series, and understand Chinese idioms.

  2. Today, the prosperity of cross-country business makes more companies tend to hire people who speak more than one language. China economy grows at a surprising speed and China occupies an important position in world affairs. Most business leaders all over the world prefer to employ people who could speak over one language. Knowing Chinese means you have an edge to compete for an important position in your future career life.

  3. In China, English study is very popular. So when you plan to learn Chinese, why not teach English and earn money while studying Chinese culture and language. Plus, you could attend to some Chinese training class as you like, as inside the country, such training classes are very common and you have multiple choices.

II. Is Chinese hard to study?

A lot of people think Chinese is hard to learn. But the fact is on the contrary.

  1. Chinese grammar is relatively uncomplicated. Chinese doesn't have verb conjugation (tense inflection) and noun declension like western languages such as English and German. For instance, an English verb always has different verb forms (hear-heard-heard) while Chinese only have one form (ting). English countable nouns have singular or plural forms (dog-dogs) while all of Chinese nouns usually has one form (gou).

  2. The basic word order of Chinese sentence is similar to English, that is, subject - verb - object. Many key terms of Chinese like state, party, festival, and science are literally translated from English. So Chinese might give you a familiar feeling.
