Due to regular increase of fuel price in the world market, improving vehicle gas mileage is one the main concerns of car owners today and for the coming years. There are a lot of tips available on the Internet that provide ways on how to improve gas consumption. Buying a fuel-efficient car or sport utility vehicle, keeping tires properly inflated, using the right octane level for the car, changing the oil on a regular basis and reducing excess load are just some of the many practical and easy ways to gain better fuel mileage.
But most of the time, vehicle owners don’t realize that there are performance parts available on the market that are designed and manufactured to boost gas mileage. By improving your diesel performance and power characteristics, you can dramatically improve the fuel efficiency of your ride. Diesel emissions and oil stays cleaner longer, amplifying power and performance as well as prolonging the life of the engine!
Below is a list of diesel performance parts that can provide your improved gas mileage:
Air Intake Systems – Air filters and air intakes can improve gas consumption by bringing enough amount of air into the internal-combustion engine. The dirt particles can be trapped inside the passages and then eventually create clog, resulting to great airflow restriction. And when this occurs, only a lower amount of oxygen is available for combustion with fuel, thus resulting to poor performance. But with the use of air filters, no more dirt will block the oxygen going to the engine, thus creating better combustion. And this can result to improved gas mileage, and it can increase the longevity of your engine. On the other hand, the air intake kits are used to replace the stock engine’s air box and filter. The kit can maximize air flow and allows the engine to breathe easier, thus creating more torque and horsepower.
There are lots of brands of air intakes on the market today that offer the same purpose which is to improve air flow going to the engine for better fuel combustion. Also, intakes systems are available in different designs and configurations, and can be constructed using metal, rubber, silicone and other composite materials.
Exhaust Systems – If you think that exhaust systems can’t improve fuel mileage, think again. Generally, stock exhausts with narrow pipes and tight bends restrict the flow of gases coming out from the engine which lead to choking the engine. If this is the case, your car will have poor combustion thus decreasing its performance and will have inefficient fuel consumption. But with use of aftermarket exhaust systems, you can have a free flowing system where burnt gases from the engine will flow and rapidly come out in the tailpipe, leaving no impediments to the passage. Proper flow of exhaust gas promotes better engine combustion which can lead to improved gas mileage. Not to mention the intense torque and horsepower that your vehicle can have, making towing, hauling and climbing almost effortless.
Several makes and models of exhaust kits are available today. Depending on the design of the system, an exhaust kit may include a cylinder head, exhaust manifold, turbocharger, catalytic converter and a low restriction muffler.
Electronic Tuning Products – Re-programming your car’s computer to optimize its tuning according to your particular specifications and manner of driving is also another way of getting enhanced gas mileage. As we all know that most stock vehicles are only tuned to accommodate average drivers in a wide variety of conditions. So if you want to adjust your vehicle stock settings to match your preference and driving needs, program tuners and electronic controllers are great solutions particularly for computer-controlled cars. Also, there are performance chips that are programmed for maximum power and to provide better fuel economy than the stock tuning.
The mentioned products above can improve your gas mileage. But still, the best practice is to run your vehicle more efficiently and keeping it properly tuned to save fuel on your everyday travel.
