Personal Fitness Training: Dealing with Injuries

When you're driving your car or taking a walk, have you ever seen a person jogging or running with one of those black support sleeves on their knees?

Of course, their trying to be fit and healthy. Of course they are trying to do their body good.

But unfortunately, the opposite is actually what's happening, even though they have the best of intentions.

They are making a particular injury worse, and every running step they take contributes even more to the problem, not the solution.

If you talk to aging runners for instance, they'll tell you how they "pushed through the pain," only to cause they further injury and harm to themselves.

Why do they/we do it?

Well, several reasons.

One is we love the exercise we've used over the years to keep us healthy and fit. It's hard to let go of an exercise that has given us so much joy and happiness.

Another is we don't know any better. We really don't know any better and it costs us big time. After a run for instance, our attitude is to pop a couple of Advils, thinking "I'll be ok and the pain or aching will subside."

But that is not being fit and that is definitely not healthy.

The last reason is we more concerned about one part of our body than another. For instance, you are willing to endure a bit of pain in your legs to lose a few pounds.

It doesn't make sense to compromise one part of your body for another, but we humans do it all the time.

But if you're serious about health and fitness, one of the things you can do in a positive way is retain a qualified personal trainer.

Personal fitness trainers are experts when it comes to training their Clients to work out without pain.

For instance, no one likes doing sit ups or "crunches," especially if you have neck or back problems.
