We have seen a quick emergence of truck rental companies within few years. The services offered by most of them are of different kinds. But before you reach out a company with your moving problem, it is good if you know the weight of your loads and how big they are. For this, you should take into consideration the type of truck you need and their loading capacity.
The classification of trucks by companies is decided on the basis of their load carrying capacity. It is basically categorised into three:
1.Light Trucks like Minivan, Pickup truck, Tow truck (may also be a medium or heavy truck) etc.
2.Medium Trucks like van, flatbed truck, platform truck, fire truck etc.
3.Heavy Trucks like dump truck, log carrier, cargo trailer truck, heavy hauler etc.
The most commonly used trucks are:
Cargo vans: This includes heavy haulers. It is mainly used for personal property relocation and its capacity is 300 pounds.
Pickup Truck: The capacity if this vehicle is limited to 1,739 pounds. The number of item that can be loaded is eight at maximum. It is usually used for payload items. The size of item should not exceed more than eight of 2'10" and as wide as 4'2".It is mainly used for business purposes which includes the transportation of electronic products or products that are heavy and big.
Flatbed Trucks: These vehicles have a flat body or bed with no sides or roof to the trailer. The length of 14' and a width of 7'6", maximums required for the bed to be of. This is good for transporting goods that do not require any protection of the elements and can be unloaded quickly from the sides as well as rear of the truck. The capacities of the load it can carry is 9400 pounds, are vehicles in which the trailer portion of the truck is a flat body or bed with no sides or roof to the trailer. Trucks of this type are considered ideal for transporting goods that need to be unloaded quickly from the sides as well as the rear.
Dump truck: This type of vehicle is mainly useful for a major renovation, construction or landscaping project. The capacity of this vehicle is about 6000 pounds.
Depending upon your requirement and load, you can choose the vehicle for truck rental. Just choosing the right vehicle does not end up all, there are other events to be carried out before you finally get your rental truck. Complete all the formalities with the company, ask as many questions as you can, clear every doubt of yours, look for hidden cost and take an affordable truck for your journey.
