'Multimedia' as the name implies is many medias together where 'multi' means many and 'media' means an info transfer medium or a communication medium.What could these 'many media' be? There are many and various methods of communication using mediums like-text, photographs, graphics, videos and sounds. Multimedia gives a platform to bring these mediums together to form a display, which is piled high with creativeness and information that augments the spectators experience with its interactive features. For example- CD-ROM and web-based games, e-card that you send to your pals and family, animated flick like Shrek, Cheerful Feet, The Lion King, kiosks, picture trailers, the computer effects you see in the flicks like the ones in Matrix, Superman, Spiderman, Men in Black and like, dynamic sites,
PC based coaching kits. The list is long. The scope it provides, as a career is massive and is in numerous industries. To begin with first one has to choose which facet of multimedia is one curious about or atleast know which one is one inclined to. The second step is to learn the PC applications.
There are 2 ways of learning here- doing a degree course 2nd, getting a diploma. Degree courses will have a syllabus that may cover planning concepts from the basic to the advance level, formatting, writing, publishing and PC applications. It'll cover all of the facets of changing into a multimedia designer and later you can decide what is your forte. In sharp relief to this a diploma course will be of a shorter duration and will usually teach you the PC applications or softwares only.

Now as an example you need to become a web site designer so you would like to learn -Photoshop, Flash and FrontPage or Dreamweaver. These will form your base, keep updating yourself.
For eg.if you wish to learn the programming of Flash, which makes the software actually dynamic you would wish to learn Java Script. Its a continuous educational process as there are new softwares coming up nearly everyday in the market or even more features being added to old softwares. It's a nice choice for folks who need to home work and there are lots of sites offering such projects.
