Can A Currumbin Chiropractor Help You?
Chiropractors can help a lot more people than they do. Many do not go and see one as they do not understand what a chiropractor does, or are afraid they practise hocus pocus rather than a legitimate form of treatment. Here we try and explain the fundamentals of the chiropractic treatment, so you can work out if you can benefit from such treatment.
Doctors of Chiropractic are allied health industry professionals who have a specialty in treating musculoskeletal and nervous system conditions. Through such treatment they can have positive impact on your overall health. They are a corrective treatment as opposed to a masking treatment. This means they alleviate pain by correcting the underlying issue, rather than by concentrating on the symptom. Pain in the back, neck, joints and headaches are common ailments which a chiropractor will be able to improve.
A Doctor of Chiropractic as a professional requires similar educational standards as your family doctor does. The requirements are rigorous and only the best students achieve the required qualifications.
One of the benefits of seeing a chiropractor is that alternative treatments for the same problems may require drugs or worse, surgery. Chiropractic treatment are non-invasive, they generally involve massage and spinal manipulation (otherwise known as chiropractic adjustment). This means there are generally speaking, less side effects, reduced recovery and no scarring. Other methods of treating the same condition (Ie. drugs and surgery) have greater side effects, can cause scarring and may require lengthy rehabilitation.
Ultimately, it will be your chiropractor who will advise whether he can help you or whether a different profession will be more appropriate. However, common signs you could benefit from a chiropractor include:
-
You have chronic pain in your joints, muscles or head and have tried other, more traditional treatments which have not helped.
-
Your job puts pressure on your spinal structure, for example, if you are required to sit for long periods of time or to perform repetitive physical tasks.
-
An old injury is not healing the way it should, be it muscle, joint or spine related.
-
You experience a sharp pain running from your hip down your leg
-
You experience aches and pains, burning sensations or stiffness in various parts of your body; and the sensation come and goes for no apparent reason.
-
You want to get treatment for your joint or muscle pain without drugs or surgery.
-
You have noticed that the soles of your shoes wear differently on your left and right foot.
-
You have noticed that the hem of your skirt or pants hang unevenly.
-
You have noticed your head is positioned forward rather than directly over your shoulders.
-
When looking in the mirror, you have noticed one of your shoulders is lower than the other.
If you experience any of these symptoms, it is possible your wellbeing can be improved by seeing a Chiropractor. So find one that operates close to you, make an appointment and see if they can help.
