Fortunately, binge eating can be stopped and that there are a number of ways to help you end this compulsive overeating habit.
For individuals who binge, the very first thing you ought to do to break the compulsive habit is to dispose of all of the junk food that's in your home and replace those unhealthy foods with fruits and veggies. This way, in the early phases of your addiction recovery, if you cannot resist the temptation to eat, you'll be at least be eating healthy. Fruits and vegetables will also help you to keep your current weight in check. Additionally, you can also buy lots of sugarless gum and chew on them whenever you feel you really to bite on some food.
Drinking lots of water can also make you less hungry, thus less likely to binge. Drink at least 8 to 12 glasses of water per day, especially before and after meals. Do not substitute water with sodas or any other kinds of drink loaded with sugar.
Another great way to stop binge eating is to learn to break your daily meals into 5 small meals at regular intervals of the day. Binge eaters tend to eat unusually large amount of foods at one time, so by breaking the meals into 5 smaller ones with each meals 3 to 4 hours to each other, you will not feel so hungry easily and will therefore less likely to binge.
Taking a stroll outside of the house or getting involved in some physical activities can help you take you mind away from food. Do you know that a good workout also releases endorphins that can help you to resist the effects of binge eating disorder.
If you have an uncontrollable urge to binge eat, you can also try using self hypnosis to stop and break the habit. Not only will self hypnosis reinforce your will power, discipline and determination to make the right food choices but it will also help keep your food cravings at bay - often without effort, struggle or any deprivation often associated with binge eaters who try to go on a weight loss diet.
