A registered nurse can be a self rewarding carrier path that many people only dream of becoming. But with right amount of time and hard work that dream can easily become a reality.

Many people want to be involved in the medical field because of the way it enables an individual to have such a positive and helpful effect on another person’s life. A registered nurse is there to help treat patients and inform them of any medical conditions they have. They also have to be able to provide emotional support to their patients and their patients loved ones. Individuals who want to pursue a career in this medical field must also be able to perform diagnostic test and analyze their results. In addition they should be able to operate all medical machinery and manage different types of medicines and treatments their patients need. Another responsibility they carry is the ability to teach their patients how to supervise their own illness or injury.

Becoming a registered nurse comes with great responsibility; this is not something that can be earned overnight. One must take many exams and courses to be able to achieve the title of being a registered nurse (RN). The first thing to do before becoming an RN is to earn all of the proper advanced education courses. Many RNs get an associated degree in nursing which takes an average of four years to complete. Once this goal is achieved there is an exam to take called the NCLEX-RN exam. This exam is developed by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing and can be used in any state in the United States. This exam is to show if an individual has the right amount of skill and abilities to be able to obtain their license. Each state has different laws governing their licenses; some require nurses to renew their licenses every so often and some may require you to get continuing education after you have already obtained your license.

After passing the NCLEX-RN exam that dream of becoming a Registered Nurse is now a reality. The only thing left to do after completing the test is to find an excellent place of occupation. Hospitals are constantly looking for new RNs so the possibilities of finding a job are endless. It might even be smart to start off as an intern while studying to become an RN so that once an individual finally obtains their license they can apply at the hospital they have been already working at.
