Recently my wife gave birth to our beautiful daughter. Although my

daughter is a wonderful gift. The journey we took to get her was not.

During pregnancy my wife was flagged for being a high risk of

developing preeclampsia. Which can form into Preeclampsia a syndrome

that can cause problems for both mother and baby including:

  • Bleeding problems

  • Premature separation of the placenta from the uterus before

the baby is born

  • Rupture of the liver

  • Stroke

  • Death (rarely)

The only known cure for it is delivery of the baby either through

c-section or vaginal delivery. Well my wife ended up developing

pre-eclampsia and had to deliver through c-section.

What upset me the most was that all I felt the doctors were doing was

pushing drugs or just moving the pregnancy along to its inevitable

conclusion. Having to pump my wife full of drugs to enduce the

pregnancy and end up doing major surgery on her.

Never did I hear them recommend to her any changes in diet or that she

needed to exercise and eat better.  It was just "This happens

to women we don't know why, but don't worry giving birth takes care of

it.".

Well it turns out that there were things we could have been doing to

help prevent the pre-eclampsia. Along with working out, eating right,

and relaxation, studies have shown that ingesting the father's semen

helps the mother develop an immunity to the  "foreign"

proteins from paternal genes that are present in the fetus and the

placenta.  I am not a doctor, so make sure you do your own

research on the information Im about to share with you.

A study published in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology

followed several hundred women and found that women with less than four

months of exposure to their partners sperm before conception, had

substantially elevated risk for the development of pre-eclampsia

compared with women with more than 12 months of exposure before

conception.

The reason is because the absorption of several immune modulating

factors found in semen has a strong protective effect against

pre-eclampsia.

Its been known for some time that human

immune systems tolerate things better when they enter the body through

the mouth. A group of Dutch researchers confirmed the strong link

between a woman practicing oral sex and swallowing her partners semen

and the reduce chance of pre-eclampsia.

The researchers showed that any exposure to a partner's semen during

sexual activity decreases a woman's chances for preeclampsia, but that

oral ingesting of semen would best at boosting her immune system's

tolerance level necessary for a safe and successful pregnancy.

Pre-eclampsia is supposedly a first pregnancy syndrome, so this

information might not help us the next time we have a baby, but it may

help some of you not go through the problems we did.
