Having a baby can have a huge impact on the lives of everyone surrounding this new little life, especially the mother. During the pregnancy, the mother's body goes through several changes and will undoubtedly gain several extra pounds. These extra pounds will cause some concern to the new mother once the infant has been born. Mother’s, for the most part, are eager to get back into their old clothes, but this is not always easy for some women to accomplish. But it's not all vanity.
FIVE REASONS WHY NEW MOTHERS SHOULD EXERCISE
- Weight gain after pregnancy
It is normal for all women to gain weight during pregnancy. However, it is important to note that the majority of this weight is lost during child birth. Mothers should not allow, nor use, a newborn as an excuse to keep them from renewing their own bodies, because the health of their body is just as important. It is important to the mother as well as the newborn that the mother gets involved in some sort of physical activity as a way to lose the extra weight of her pregnancy.
- Stress reduction
Decreasing the stress caused from the weight gained during pregnancy can be vital to a new mother and her emotional state. Running has been proven to help improve mood. Running can also create a true feeling of happiness within the runner, which will later translate to better sleep while decreasing stress levels.
- Depression
A recent research study of over one thousand new mothers concluded that the new mothers who actually exercised during, as well as after, their pregnancy were much better off emotionally than the new mothers who did not. These new mothers did not do anything special other than take a nice vigorous walk around their neighbor everyday with a friend to enjoy their neighborhood and a friendly chat. In this case alone, the exercise was not about being able to burn those extra calories, but more about getting their blood pumping through their veins.
- Weight of mother tied directly to health of newborn
Mothers who do not exercise during their pregnancies tend to have much larger babies than those of mothers who do exercise during pregnancy. Smaller babies have a better chance of avoiding obesity than babies who are born larger.
- Stimulate your baby’s development by getting out and about
Getting your newborn outside is a great way to begin introducing them to the new images and sounds of the outdoors. By getting your baby out of the house and into new surroundings, you will be activating developmental skills such as the senses of smell, sight, and sound. It is vital that parents realize how important it is to stimulate these senses.
HOW CAN NEW MOTHERS EXERCISE
New mothers can often seem overwhelmed with everything associated with the challenges of having a new baby at home. As a result, trying to find time to address their personal needs can seem almost impossible. When there is a household to take care of things really seem endless and the possibility of finding free time seems impossible.
A new mother needs the same amount of quality time as everyone else in the family to ensure that her emotional, mental, and physical well-being stays in check. It is not unusual for a new mother to place everyone in her life before her, but she still needs time to herself to recover as the individual that she is. However, how is a new mother supposed find time for herself when all of her time is spent taking care of those around her?
EXERCISE ROUTINE
The basic exercise routine a new mother should consider is simply walking. When walking, walkers have the ability to control their pace and, as they become more comfortable, they can increase their speed to the point of actually jogging. New mothers will quickly see the effect that walking has on their bodies, as well as the effect that being outside has both emotionally and mentally.
BOB Swivel Wheel Strollers are the perfect stroller for walking and jogging, but this is not the only thing that this stroller has been built for. This is a convenient stroller built especially with new mothers in mind. The stroller design allows access to everything that the new mom could need, right at her fingertips so she never has to take her eyes off the little one.
A jogging stroller is the best way to start your new exercise routine. The best part is that you are not out there all alone; you will have your little one right there with you to share this special time with you. No matter where you decide to walk, whether on asphalt, gravel, or on a trail these jogging strollers are created to roll smoothly. They have been specifically designed for a variety of environments so that mothers can walk wherever they want.
Your adventures outdoors should be used to bond with your baby. No matter the age of the child, there is no reason why you cannot have company on your daily walks with your jogging stroller. These daily walks can be turned into a family outing where everyone gets to bond together as one family. This is especially true if there is another child in the family, because as a jogging stroller mom and dad, you could use a BOB Ironman Dualie Stroller.
CONCLUSION
It would be wonderful if a new mother could take care of the responsibilities she has as mother and wife and, at the same time still, be able to take proper care of her needs as well. However, who is to say that all of that is not possible? It has been proven that just a small bit of exercise will help a new mother deal much better with the weight gain caused by her pregnancy as well as the hopelessness she may feel at times. If these are not dealt with effectively, these can also affect the baby. In the end, sanity wins over vanity; looking good is great but feeling good about yourself and your new life is even greater.
