Camping safety awareness is important for keeping ourselves safe on our outdoor adventures, and not to be overlooked to make sure we enjoy the plans we have made for our trip.

These camping safety ideas will help anyone gain knowledge of problems that exist whilst camping. However, the outdoors is nothing to be frightened of, as vary few accidents and issues arise.

Camping In Hot Weather

Preparing with the right clothing is important for the heat. Using sun hats of any type are advisable, alongside light clothing that reflects rather than absorbs sun rays.

Sun lotion is also a requirement we need to take on a camp trip, especially for fair skinned kids or adults. It will pay to use a higher factor to be safe in the sun. We now, see plenty of news on TV about the risks attached to UV rays and how we should protect ourselves.

Campfire Safety

Knowing how to build a good campfire is helpful, whilst allowing plenty of room from the camping tent and any other flammable gear, when building the fire. Check if campfires are allowed; Some areas fires are forbidden to protect the forests and wildlife.

Kids find fires enchanting and need support and guidance whilst the fire is lit. You may find the children can enjoy campfires if you involve them with the collecting of wood and teaching them how and why we play it safe, when making a campfire.

Making sure the fire is completely extinguished before getting some much needed shut eye, is a camping safety priority.

First Aid Kits

Taking a first aid kit is an important item to take on your adventures. Many camp sites have a first aid kit, but we should all take our own to deal with minor injuries. Kits can be bought as a prepared kit or many will prepare there own first aid kit, with all the necessary items needed.

Food Safety Camping

Safety with food whilst camping should be treated the same as at home with the difference being we are more prone to food contamination. Being aware of meats we are using and utensils used is essential. Tinned, dried or packaged food is the safest option, although being smart with any foods will be fine.

Awareness For Thieves

We never know when thieves are on the prowl. Many items that are not necessary and expensive, are worth considering leaving at home. Making sure items taken on the trip are insured can prevent any financial loss. Also, an awareness of the area your camping, and becoming friendly with anyone local to your tent, may help if any strange visitors decide to pay your gear a visit.

Disable People Camping

Although many countries now have disability discrimination laws to protect a disabled persons rights, some campgrounds are unable to make a site completely safe. When choosing a place to go camping, it's worth finding out before booking , if the campsite has disability facilities to make sure any camping safety issues are addressed. .
