British firms have become world leaders in using team building companies to strengthen trust and co-operation between employees according to the latest anecdotal evidence.

A Team building company organises activities like sailing or paintballing or simply hill-walking or swimming have been identified as vitally important in helping staff shake off the shackles of their office demeanour and forge closer relationships in order to work more solidly as a team.

As a result, employees who have participated in activities laid on by team building companies have enjoyed a greater sense of comradeship with their colleagues, as well as an enhanced level of trust and respect for each other.

Other exercises which have been identified as good team-building activities can be as simple as closing your eyes before falling backwards and allowing your fellow employees to catch you.

One particularly innovative team-building activity involves employees organising themselves in a line according to when during the year their birthday falls, all without speaking.

This demonstrates that a team building activity need not necessarily be expensive, providing that the right ethos is created through a light-hearted and innovative approach.

Leap Plc, a UK based Team Building company specialising in corporate team building, people development, management training and business growth, is a market leader in organising such activities and provides services to some of the biggest names in British industry and commerce.

Leap provides motivational corporate events and workshops which aim to help workforces grow and develop, both personally and professionally.

In addition, LEAP is now also registered as a provider for the Government's Train to Gain scheme and also boasts a healthy portfolio of clients including DIOR, Estee Lauder, The European Central Bank, Sun Microsystems, O2, Vodafone, Deutsche Bank, HBOS, some of the GBR Olympic sailing squad, professional footballers and golfers.

John Wright, Client Services Director of Prudential Financial said of his firm’s team building activities organised by the company: "The end result was good fun, well organised and balanced.

"The physical pursuits combined with classroom work where people were suddenly required to think much harder without the impetus of physical work, was extremely effective." He added.
