Set in the south of Yorkshire Sheffield is a prominent city, normally considered an industrial city from its strong steel industry Sheffield now enjoys lovely green parks and a newly cosmopolitan atmosphere. Although the Steel industry in Sheffield is no more you still get a lot of tourists coming to see the sites of the old steel works.

The city has a lot of Sheffield Hotels for you to choose from and depending on your budget you can opt for a hotel near the city centre, or something more on the outskirts. Wherever you choose, Sheffield has great transportation and the city centre has a good pedestrian area so you can be free to wander around the centre as you please.

With typical northern hospitality and friendliness you will feel right at home at any of the Sheffield hotels you choose. Your Sheffield hotel will be able to point you in the direction of local amnesties and points of interest, or you could take the tram to Meadowhall shopping centre and take advantage of designer and high street names until late at night.

If you don't mind a short tram or bus journey you may want to try out the other big shopping centres such as Crystal Peaks. If you go out in to the outskirts of Sheffield you can find more exclusive shops and designers, perfect for any shopaholics.

Sheffield has more history than the steel works and you can see ancient artefacts and more modern art in the many museums and galleries around the city. If you enjoy art then you will want to visit the Millenium Gallery with old and new exhibitions worthy of the Tate, London.

If you want to try something a bit more active, either by yourselves or with the family, then try the Ice Sheffield, which boasts two Olympic sized Ice rinks for you to skate around. However if you are more of an observer you can watch the famous Sheffield Steelers Ice Hockey team play at the Sheffield arena.

For nightlife, Sheffield has an abundance of pubs and clubs, all within walking distance of each other, and with a large student population many of these bars are reasonably prices so you won't need a mortgage to buy two pints of lager. If you fancy something a little more sophisticated Sheffield caters for everyone with Michelin starred restaurants and homemade Italian restaurants. Whatever your taste Sheffield has something for you and most Sheffield hotels will advise you on the best places to go to make your stay as good as can be.
