Poultry breed that is most suitable for meat production is generally that serves a dual purpose of egg laying and meat production. The best breeds are the Indian Game and Ixworth. The breeds of Astralorp, Braekel and Chanticleer also serve this dual purpose well. Breeds that are used as pets are mainly the male roosters or cockerels.
