Camel Snus by R.J. Reynolds is manufactured in Winston-Salem, United States. Camel Snus is available in four flavors: Mellow, Robust, Frost, and Winterchill. Snus is used between the cheek and upper lip where the oral cavity absorbs nicotine. Similar to food, snus users have their own bran preferences depending on their tastes. Snus is an established cigarette alternative that’s being marketed globally. Initially, snus use is traditionally practiced in the Scandinavian countries, Sweden in particular, the country where snus is widely manufactured.

The early use of snus or snuff as some prefer to call it dates back to the 1400s or 1500s when European first got in touch with tobacco since they arrive in West Indies in Haiti. History-wise, the use of tobacco is credited to Spanish and Portuguese sailors who brought tobacco to Europe during that period of time. As early as the 1500s, tobacco or snus use was already introduced in America when a monk known to be Ramon Pane joined Christopher Columbus on one of his expeditions in America. Since then, there evolved so many companies promoting and manufacturing snus and one of which is the Camel. Snus, with its varieties have greatly replaced the use of cigarette in Sweden and Europe.

Use of snus

The non-smoking campaign related to environment and health issues promote the use of snus all over Europe. Similarly, America companies like Camel Snus initiated its business as a tobacco brand manufacturer in 2006 in Portlan Oregon. Camel Snus is manufactured by the British American Tobacco PLC, an owner of the 42% stock of RJ Reynolds American, the latter considered to be the world’s second largest tobacco manufacturer located in Winston-Salem North Carolina. With the release of Camel Snus from RJ Reynolds in Oregon and Texas, Camel Snus have been known since 2006. This smokeless and spitless tobacco was promoted to various states in America and has penetrated the populated areas of the rich and famous in California, New York, Atlanta, Chicago and Washington DC.

Smokeless tobacco

Camel brand marketing positioning started when RJ Reynolds promoted Camel Snus smokeless tobacco in Austin, Texas and Louiseville Kentucky in July 2006. With the aggressive marketing and brand promotion, Camel Snus was offered for free and was publicized in newspaper columns, direct mail campaigns and has initiated a site of its own. The free promotion and attractive packaging of Camel Snus carries the Sweden brand name and is being offered for a $2 discount when purchased through other carrier like Philip Morris USA. With the growing issues on early smoking attraction and smokeless tobacco, critiques not only present the health issues associated with the use Came Snus despite its "gain pleasure anywhere" and pasteurized marketing promotion and brand strategy. Camel Snus can be used similar to all other snus created in the market where users can keep the snus underneath his/her lips.

Types of Snus.

Snus comes in various forms and types. The first major difference when shopping for Snus is portioned and Los. Portioned snus comes in packets that resemble tea bags, and come in sizes of mini, regular, and maxi. Mini portions tend to contain less nicotine, but they also have the advantage of being nearly undetectable, which makes them good to use in situations where concealing Snus is important.

Portioned Snus also comes in two different kinds, original and white. White and black Snus are dry, whereas original comes pre-moistened.

The next type of Snus is Los, or "loose". Loose snus does not come in a portion, and requires the user to "bake" (form) an amount to use. Los gives the user the advantage of being able to vary the amount of Snus being used at once (unlike the set amount found in portions) and also tastes stronger. The disadvantage of Los Snus is that it can be messy at times, and requires effort in forming the Snus before usage.

How do I use Snus?

Using Snus is simple if you are using portioned Snus. Simply place the portion underneath your upper lip on the preferred side, and thats it! Over time, you will get used to placing the Snus there, and you will quickly get used to the feeling. There is no need to spit with Snus, although sometimes when you swallow a slight burning sensation occurs. This is normal, and is either due to excess salivation or by the use of very strong Snus.
