Once the editor decline the submission, it will be difficult to get listed. Therefore, you must navigate to the most relevant category before making a submission. Every directory has its own submission guidelines.

Every directory have a different range of categories. If you cannot find a relevant category, you can suggest a new category for your website. The top level category is for paid listing. If you have a larger budget, you can buy the paid listing. If you want to purchase the paid listing, you can choose to submit your website to a top level category.

Some directories allow regular listing on the top level category. If you see that there are websites listed on the top level category, you can submit your website to the category as well. You will have to determine the problem of your listing and resubmit it again. It is very troublesome to resubmit a listing so you should always submit your website to the most relevant category.

The submission guidelines are listed on the submission page so that the person can conveniently refer to it. Most of the submission guidelines are more or less the same. However, it is best to read the submission guidelines to ensure that your submission get approved by the editor.

After you have submitted the website, you will have to wait for some time for the editor to review it. If you select free submission, it will take 1 – 3 months to get approved. People who purchase paid listing will be given priority over those that choose free listing. When your site is listed, the directory owner will send a confirmation email to your provided email address. Sometimes, the directory owner will not send any notification so you will have to check back. There are thousands of directories on the internet. It can be time consuming to submit to these directories. If you don’t have time submitting to the directories, you can outsource it to the SEO company or freelancer.
