A pot belly in most cases is attributable to indiscipline. Indiscipline in what you eat which consequently goes into your body. Indiscipline in what you drink which also goes into your body. Indiscipline in the way you treat your body which affects your body system. Your sleeping habit is one way of burning up belly fat. Medical Practitioners have opined that the more sleep you provide for your body, the more your body burns up fat. It is when the body is at rest that it metabolizes fat and also rebuilds muscle tissue. They have therefore recommended between 6-8 hours sleep per day. You should also avoid stress at all cost. When you are under stress, you tend to accumulate fat.

Your eating habit if properly managed is also another way of eliminating belly fat. Reduce considerably your intake of carbohydrates and fats. Increase your intake of protein. Reduce your intake of canned foods, frozen foods, pasta, hamburger, polished rice, white bread, fried foods, butter and potato chips. Increase your intake of whole wheat bread, unpolished rice, vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, salad dressed with olive oil etc. Avoid taking salty foods.

Your kind of drinks could also help in eliminating your belly fat. Avoid alcohol as much as possible. Alcohol tends to settle in your body and in particular your mid section. Take lots of water to flush out the harmful toxins in your body that can add up to several kilograms of weight. Doctors recommend 8 - 10 glasses of water per day.

Be active while awake. Intensify your exercises to burn up the excess fat in your body. Devise an exercise plan that is unique to you and will not be harmful to you. You could engage in less strenuous exercises such press - ups, crunches, jogging, brisk walking, aerobics, Tae Bo, Pilates and treadmill walking. It is however advisable to design a nutrition plan that will agree with your exercise plan.

Embrace the pain of discipline and attain the flat belly which you desire rather than embracing the pleasure of indiscipline which will consequently bring about the pain of regret of having a pot belly.
