India has a varied culture and a lot of intriguing history to it. Many of the cities in India, have a lot of history personified in the form of monuments, places, museums, and what not.
Indian culture holds a very significant place in India, keeping in mind the integrating diverse cultures but all so weaved together that they give the feeling of oneness.
The few very famous and important cities of India are Agra, Delhi, Jaipur.
Agra-A city which is famous to have one of the seven wonders of the world_ Taj Mahal. Taj Mahal, the extra-ordinary beautiful Mausoleum on Earth. Most of the monuments here are of the Mughal era. It was the capital of Mughals during their time of reign.
The city also has two other world heritage sights, other than the Taj Mahal, which are the Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri. The Taj Mahal is a reason for many foreigners and also local dwellers to come and visit Agra at least once. A very famous spot for newly married couples and lovers are the monument of love Taj. Many people come here to get pictures clicked with Taj Mahal setting the background.
Delhi- Capital of India, this city has a lot of historical monuments which can be visited to see the glimpses of history. Not only the political centre of the country but a city full of cultural diversity and attractions which pull one to visit it at least once. Some of the attractions in the city include Mughal masterpieces as Red Fort, Old Fort, Humayun's Tomb and Jama Masjid, and modern day wonders as Akshardham Temple and Lotus Temple. Even the by lanes of Old Delhi grip you in nostalgia.
Jaipur- Jaipur is the the capital city of Rajasthan. Painted in pink, it is called the 'Pink City' and is famous for its spectacular palaces and forts. To name a few destinations worth visiting, City Palace, Hawa Mahal, Amber Fort and Jantar Mantar and other excellent monuments. One must visit the place to get the glimpses of the colorful Rajasthani culture, besides the historical monuments.
Varanasi- One of the oldest cities in the world, the city is placed on the western banks of the River Ganges in Uttar Pradesh. A place which is a must for a Hindu devout, but others can also enjoy this place by noting the faith and learning the history of Hinduism. The age old ritual performed by the devotees is a rare sight, and fills one with a great feeling. A leading Buddhist pilgrimage, Sarnath, is closer to the city too.
Ladakh- beyond Kashmir, encircled between The Himalayas and The Karakoram is a beautiful place Ladakh. Commonly known as Leh Ladakh, this place is a haven for fun lovers. An amazing place painted monasteries, hand-made wall-hangings and the aroma from the vessels of Gurgur-Cha in Ladakh. a place worth a visit.
