It is very difficult to discuss the "best" of anything because the word "best" can rely heavily on opinion or circumstantial preferences/needs. This is especially true when it comes to anything in consumer electronics; including LCD televisions. With that being said, let's have a look at some of the biggest, most reputable LCD TV brands. I personally consider these brands to be among the very best based on the brand's implementation of various features, settings, designs, and prices among its line of LCD TVs. I haven't bothered ranking these manufacturers here as I intend for this to merely be a guide to help in your quest of crafting the ultimate home theater with the best LCD TV for your needs.
LG:LG pretty much dominates the LCD television market. LG has a range of LCD TV offerings so diverse that it has a set for every user from the high-end, eagle-eyed viewer to the lower-ended casual viewer. Its feature set is often extensive; including everything from advanced LED back-lighting to iPod/iPhone docking to full web-connected interactivity. LG's display options are always exceptional and set the standard for the LCD TV market. They provide a wealth of useful adjustments alongside intuitive menu interfaces, though they often lack on-screen explanations. The pricing for LG is usually on par with what one would expect for a LCD TV.
VIZIO: Vizio has made a profitable, competent business out of undercutting their competitors' price points while delivering comparable performance. Aside from their ever-present glowing logo, the design of Vizio's LCD televisions are never particularly flashy, for better or worse, but they do deliver an impressive range of features; however, these features never seem to really impact the LCD television viewing experience in a useful/beneficial way and are better off being left alone or turned off. Vizio does manage to over-deliver with its versatile picture-in-picture qualities--an often forgotten feature among current LCD televisions. Considering the prices they offer, Vizio may be a solid choice for non-demanding viewers.
TOSHIBA: Though not particularly prolific at the moment, Toshiba is a respectable LCD TV manufacturer and they offer a wide range of selections. They are not known to produce spectacular LCD televisions, but by no means are they poor. Toshiba sets are usually capable of rich, realistic colors, but they tend to falter when reproducing deep shades of black (a fault in most LCD TV sets). They usually provide all the features expected of an LCD television including full media-reader functions as well as overly-extensive picture tweaking options. It is not unusual to find a feature-packed Toshiba at a superb price.
This was just a quick and casual look at some well-established LCD TV brands. There are certainly more of them out there and I encourage you to investigate them as well so that you can make an informed decision. Happy hunting!
