These commissions are usually on a PPC basis (PPC stands for Pay Per Click), which means everyone clicks on the advertiser’s link and visits their website, it brings in some revenue to the Internet marketer promoting the website.
Such an Internet marketing business is called as affiliate marketer. Today, there are many resources for you if you want to become an affiliate marketer. In fact, the biggest honcho of them all—Google—has the biggest name in the affiliate marketing business too, with its tool known as Google AdWords.
Affiliate marketing is certainly a very interesting Internet marketing method. There are umpteen advantages:- You don’t have to have your own product. This brings in the added advantage that you are not responsible for product support. You have to implement minimal promotional methods, especially if you are using a platform such as Google AdWords. You are piggybacking on the already existing popularity of the product you are promoting, because the manufacturers will be assuredly using other methods of promoting their product as well apart from your affiliate marketing campaign. The payouts are quite good, considering that you don’t have to do anything else apart from placing the link of the manufacturer’s website on yours. This can lead to a good deal of residual income. You basically don’t have to do anything special for earning your affiliate Internet marketing income. Once you have placed the HTML code of the manufacturer’s website link, you are done. After that, you will just be implementing your basic promotional tactics.
Now, there are two ways in which you can enter affiliate marketing. We have already spoken about them, but let us lay them out here.
- You have your own website. On this website, you just place the ad of the manufacturer, which could be as simple as pasting a link. This gives you a lot of freedom about what you can do to promote the link, right from designing your website the way you want.
- You don’t have your own website. In that case, you can use the platform of Google AdWords and promote links on other websites. You could also build free websites using tools such as Blogger (again a Google product) and promote advertiser links through that.
The important thing you have to remember is that Internet marketing through the affiliate method isn’t a difficult thing to do at all. Everyone needs to start somewhere and here actually there is a lot of information available for you on the Internet already. Read through that and get motivated—the sooner you start, the richer you will be.
