Easyveyor Aluminum Conveyors

Many nursery and greenhouse operations have a need to move
plants in large quantities . Most people prefer lightweight aluminum
conveyors that are portable and easy to move. Some manufactures make
conveyors that have a drive unit and connecting slave units that run
off the powered unit. Some transfer the power from section to section
with a variety of ways. One is through the belt itself , however
problems can arise with the fluctuation of temperature. The belts have
to be tightened up so that slipping does not occur. It proves to be
an irritation to the user as he needs to focus on the job at hand
(moving plants). Also the gears that are connected at the ends of the
drive rollers tend to get debris packed in the teeth and the gears
chatter and grow apart and will eventually slip causing the slave
units not to work without a jerking motion.
Another style of transferring power from a drive unit to the
other slave units is through a drive shaft method. This is better
than the transfer of power through the belt method , however these
styles are very costly and prove to be fragile . They work well and do
not have as much jerking motion as the belt transfer.
We at Mitchell Ellis Products manufacture an aluminum
conveyor (EASYVEYOR) and the body is extruded aluminum. This is much
stronger than conveyors that are made from sheet aluminum and then
formed in a press brake. It will easily support 600 pounds and the
belt speed is variable from 0 - 40 feet per minute. It is powered by
a ¼ h.p. gear-motor and has simple chain and sprockets that are under
a very streamlined shroud. The controller is a D C unit that converts
110 volt to 12 volt. An optional toggle switch can be added for a
reverse.
Unlike other conveyor manufactures the EASYVEYOR has its own
gear-motor on every section ,so you never experience the jerking
motion or a loss of power that comes with slave units. Each section
only weighs 123 pounds so they can be handled with ease . It has a u-
shaped leg on each end to keep the conveyor height about 12 inches
above the ground. We offer tripod stands for those who wish to operate
at a waste high level. Using 2 tripods for the first section and then
only one tripod for the other connection units. The units have conduit
running the full length of the conveyor and have a 110 volt plug on
the tail end so as to provide a power connection for each 20 foot
section. The head or drive end has a steel slip in groove connection
that is simple to use , no complicated latches. The head pulley is
machined solid aluminum that is knurled 2.25 inch diameter to provide
plenty of grip. The tail pulley is 1.9 inch in diameter and smooth.
Both the head and tail pulley are v-grooved to aid in tracking the
belt.
Holes can be drilled in the legs and a solid steel rod slipped
through to become an axle so that wheels can be added. Either solid or
pneumatic wheels will work. Some customers do this and connect the 20
foot sections together to be a loading conveyor on a loading dock. The
power cord should be at least 12 gauge and never used to power over
5 sections . In the event that 6 conveyors are needed another power
source is required. This will prevent overheating and drawing to many
amps. Each conveyor draws 1.0 amps. The EASYVEYOR has proved to be a
reliable conveyor for over 20 years . The beauty about this conveyor
is that you can use in different lengths. They can be separated and
used for different applications such as in-feed conveyors for the
potting machine. A limit switch can be added to stop and start the
belt automatically.
