To get your site to get found in Google, Yahoo, and Bing, etc. isn't that hard to do, but, it can be very difficult to know where to start your Maine SEO campaign. Below are ways for you to make your Maine SEO project a good one:

  1. Do not buy a new URL's unless you have to. The search engines put a lot of stock in how long your URL's and domain have been around. While you can get a new domain and redirect your old one to the new one, your best bet is to use your current domain if at all possible. If you're rebuilding or starting from scratch and you must to use a fresh domain for some reason, you can expect at least a minor loss in search engine traffic. It may be anywhere from a few weeks to a few months or more.

  2. Optimize your site for the search engines, not your customers. The search engines are looking for pages that best fit the kewyword someone puts into their search box. If they type search words that relate to what your website offers, then they are probably people that are your target audience. You need to optimize your website to meet the search engines needs. Look for studies on the online that are done on how Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc., are getting this information, and get to work giving those search engines what they need. This will be crucial to your resulting website campaigne, keyword research, and copywriting.

  3. Do your home work on your keyword terms extensively. The phrases you think your market might be looking for could be wrong. Just because you searched for a product or service a certain way, doesn’t mean everyone will look for it that way. You need to find out how most of the people are searching for your service. For example: The keyword "Maine Roofers" was searched 456 times in May of 2010. But, "Maine Roofing" was searched 4,319 times. That’s a big difference for such a minor change in the search term.

  4. Build your website to be "search engine friendly". The bots can't fill out forms, can't search your site, can't see JavaScript links and menus, and can't view graphics and Flash. This doesn't mean that you can't use these things on your site; you most certainly can! But, you do need to provide alternate means ofbrowsing your website. This is extremely important for Maine SEO. If you have only a drop-down sequence of menus to choose a category or a brand of something, the bots, or crawlers will never find those pages. You'll need to make sure that you always have some form of HTML links in the main navigation on every page which link to the top-level pages of your site.

  5. Don't be married to any one keyword phrase or be worried too much about rankings. When do the right things, you will begin to see an increase in search engine visitors to your website fairly fast. You should not rank your project by which keyword categories you rank highly in, but on the traffic and conversions your site is getting. You should set your site up on Google Analytics to track your traffic,it’s free., and is the best one around.
