So you’ve got your fish tank set up and all your Betta fish are soothingly and calmly swimming through your water wonderland but there is still something missing. How about decorating your Betta fish's home?

Decorate the Betta fish’s underwater home with colorful stones or even just plain gravel which will make a great base for your Betta fish’s aqua kingdom. Add small rocky cave like structures you can get from the local pet shop or even old ornaments like toys or sculptures lying around your house to give your fish tank real flair! Remember a creative home is a happy home so give the Betta fish lots of different things to stimulate their fishy minds!

Brighten up even the most ordinary items in your fish tank, spend that little bit extra on your beloved Betta fish and buy a water filter and water heater which can make your betta healthy.

If you really want to go that extra mile and add another completely new dimension to your fish arena then try a themed fish tank. Why not try a pirate themed fish tank with a mini casket of treasure and a mini old sunken wooden ship! Or even a cowboy themed fish tank with a miniature shady, dusty saloon bar with mini cowboys on horse back roaming around your Betta fish, even use sand as a base to give it that real, authentic western finish.

Please be careful though when selecting novelty items to put in with the Betta fish as jagged rocks or decorations can potentially tear the Betta fish’s fins. So take extreme consideration when picking and choosing as the last thing you’ll want is injured Betta fish or even worse, dead Betta fish due to a novelty idea you chucked into their fish tank without a second’s thought.

Also avoid hard plastic plants, as they can be rough on the fins also so instead use live, real plants. While live plants are not a necessity for the Betta fish to survive, they really are a great addition to Betta fish’s tanks. They're prettier than the fake ones, and Betta fish love lounging on the luscious, green leaves and hiding in them to sleep.

Don’t let your Betta fish get bored of the same old surroundings, try to change the items in your fish tank as regularly as you’d change their water. Decorate their tank, keep it fresh!
