This is an English listening lesson about how being a foreigner can be an advantage. You're going to hear a story about the story.
This will help you practice listening to someone tell a story. Make sure to follow the instructions and complete the dictation exercises.
Instructions
-
Listen or watch the material two-five times.
-
Complete the fill-in-the-gap dictation exercise. Repeat.
-
Dictate the story fully. Repeat. If the material is too long, dictate 20 or 30 seconds each time you study and don't be afraid to look at the script and cheat.
-
Repeat Steps 2-4. Do this as many times as possible.
If you have any questions, please write them in the comments section or email me (if you signed up) and I will help you.
Thanks and good luck.

Story Script
You know, it's really interesting being a foreigner in Korea and it's the same for all foreigners in Asia, I think. See, I read a story on the Internet about how a guy was living in a small town in Japan and kids would shout "How are you?" at him and people would even follow him around the grocery store. Funny thing in my case is that people think I'm Korean so they just act normally around me. I like it because I get to see "real" Korean behaviour, as it were. What's it been like for you being a foreigner here?
An English teacher for over 8 years, I've finally come up with a way to help you quickly improve your English listening skills. I combine all three ways of learning, auditory, visual, and physical into short, easy-to-follow lessons. All you have to do is listen to the stories I record for you and do the listening practice and exercises I recommend. Good luck and thank you. Copyright 2010 Carl Kwan
