One of the best Louisiana fall fairs and festivals is the Thibodaux Chamber of Commerce's Thibodeauxville. Thibodeauxville is an amazing Louisiana family fun festival with everything from face painting, sand art and a live petting zoo to scores of vendor booths and a food court that goes on for a city block.
On November 13, 2010 downtown Thibodaux comes alive with Thibodeauxville. The whole downtown area is roped off for a full day of unbelievable family fun. You can stroll for blocks and see vendors with every imaginable thing for sale.
There are lots of kids' activities too. Come early, it doesn't take long for the face painting lines to start forming. How about a band on virtually every corner? We love music in South Louisiana and you can hear everything from folk to Motown to Christian and a bunch in between.
Before long the aromas from the food court start to fill the air. Dancing in the street can sure work up an appetite. You can walk for a little over a city block and see an endless variety of different foods. Cajun specialties like Cajun fried catfish, jambalaya and gumbo. BBQ brisket, hamburgers and pulled pork. You can also have a choice from Chinese specialties to a Philly cheesesteak and just about everything in between. For desert there's bread pudding, cold ice cream and whole variety of tasty desert treats.
When you leave the food court (and believe me, you'll need to walk) you can stop and see the rows upon rows of show cars. From vintage models to the latest street machines, they're all here for viewing.
Stroll down another street and see the displays of hand-made furniture, listen to some music, dance or just sit back for a moment and just enjoy the scenes.
In the afternoon there is the famed "Duck race." Hundreds of plastic ducks are let loose in scenic Bayou Lafourche and it's a floating race to the finish. Oh and the winner stands to walk away with a nice little bundle of money.
When you think of a Louisiana fall fair or festival, think of Thibodeauxville. November 13, 2010 is the date. Mark it down. Come early and be sure to come hungry!
