Baby showers are a great chance to celebrate the birth of a baby. In a typical baby shower party, you will have food, activities, games, and prizes. You can often see many baby showers take place a few months before the baby is born. To throw a successful party, you need to talk with the mom and understand what she needs.
The main purpose of a party is obvious: to celebrate the pending birth of a child. This celebration is a chance to bring the whole family and relatives together. The baby shower also honors friends and co-workers.
The expectant mother will receive gifts and supplies from guests. These gifts will be used for, and by, the new baby. Before the party, the mother gives a list of what she and her baby need. The guests will then buy gifts based on what the mother needs.
There are parties for couples and there are parties for women only. You must therefore first determine the type of party you want to do.
When you choose a shower with only women, you need to select only traditionally feminine activities. These activities include tea parties and spa showers. You may decorate the shower in pink or blue depending on the sex of the baby.
You can also throw a party for men only. This kind of party will involve sporting activities. If the parents are expecting their second child, they may have had enough supplies for the child from the previous child. This is when they want to make a party where the guests will give books as gifts so that they can make a small library for the child.
The shower usually takes place a few months before the birth of the baby. However, there are many parties take place after the baby is born so that the guests can see the baby and give their gifts directly to the newborn.
As with most parties and showers, you should send out invitations four to six weeks before the event. The guests will then have time to arrange their work and prepare gifts. When you have many out of town guests, you should advise them far in advance so that they will be able to come.
One of the most paramount parts of a shower party is food and drink. You should have enough food for not only the invited guests but also some unexpected guests. You have to be prudent so that when expected guests come, you don't go short of food.
Hosting a baby shower can be a lot of work, but it can be rewarding as well. By searching at your local library, in magazines and by visiting our baby showers website, you should be able to find enough activities to keep everyone occupied and happy. Don't forget to check out baby shower corsages, floral or otherwise.
