Are you feeling apprehensive to commit to a relationship? Feeling reluctant can mean many things. Here is some idea’s to tell them apart.
You’ve have been searching databases of the most popular online dating sites for local singles and have been successful at getting dates, but taking a relationship from the " I am just dating" phase to another level is another whole ballgame. Having what is commonly called "commitment phobia" is many times misunderstood so it is important not to accuse your partner or yourself of this because it is often misdiagnosed. Being cautious when making a decision that has life-long consequences is not being necessarily unreasonable in your relationship.
Having a fear of making a long term commitment sometimes is a sign of an unresolved pain in a person’s past. Many times we people are in a relationship that is not "meeting" their timeline then frustration sets in. If a previous commitment did not work out for that person, then it may take an extra helping of compassion with your partner and work towards a mutual understanding.
Many times a person will develop a commitment phobia when they get the feeling or possibly the fear of what is coming up next in the relationship. When you or your partner start getting the feeling of being unsure of the idea of settling down, it may simply mean there is the need to let more time go by before considering a long term relationship with that person. When you are rushing a relationship it may ruin it before it can develop and mature, remember good things take time. Keep in mind that just because that one of you feel ready to settle down into a long term relationship does not mean that your partner should feel that way at the same time as you, people need to make life changing decisions at their own pace.
Finally, someone having the fear of a long term commitment might be exactly what it seems it might be – someone dodging relationships and just in it for the short term dates, everyday it become more evident with warning signs you that your partner is not interested in building a long term relationship with you. Watch for the obvious warning signs and call it like it is and move on. Good Luck and Happy Online Personals Dating!
