It’s no secret to anyone looking at the causes of premature ejaculation that drinking alcohol is a factor in this sexual dysfunction. Doctors will often ask one of the early questions: Do you Drink? And answering yes becomes a factor in the problem. When is drinking problematic for sex and why?

In many comic television shows, drinking an excessive amount of alcohol makes a man able to approach the woman of is dreams and proposition her. In both the comedy and in real life, this is most often met by a drink in the face, but for many men, having a few drinks lowers inhibitions and makes them more willing to experiment in bed. However, there’s a very fine line between lowering inhibitions…and lowering everything else!

Alcohol has a detrimental effect on male sexual health by suppressing testosterone and killing sperm. Alcohol also has a ‘feminizing’ effect on men; it creates man boobs, makes the body store more fat around the hips and reduces chest hair because alcohol as more estrogen in it and it lowers testosterone levels too. Alcohol has also been found to shrink the testes of men.

All of these physical factors also work against a longer period before ejaculation. Not only do drunken men tend to ‘cum’ faster because they aren’t bothering to control themselves, but they have lost many of the natural safeguards of their body such as testosterone and normal sized organs.

However, like most things, the bad things will only happen if you overdo it all of the time. Many men have found that a moderate amount of alcohol improves their performance because of lowered inhibitions and a more numb feeling. However, this doesn’t help sensation and a lot of the drinks that men indulge in are not the ones needed to stay on the good side of the line (ie. Men tend to drink a lot of beer which ruins sexual encounters where instead they should be having a glass of wine over dinner to help the encounter). It’s a very fine line and one that most men ignore in favor of drinking it up and falling into a stupor!

If you want to use alcohol to occasionally give you a boost in longevity or to last longer in bed, then opt for a romantic dinner with wine, not for beer and you’ll find that you’ll perform better-but don’t use alcohol as a crutch either. If you have a problem with premature ejaculation, drinking any kind of alcohol will, over the long run, make the problem worse, not better.
