Raising a puppy requires utmost care and sensitivity just as you would require when you are raising a child. There are no hard and fast rules to be followed while raising your puppy. You can decide your own best ways in which you would like to take care of your puppy. However, there are three important things, which will be very helpful to you when you try to rear you puppy. We have often heard people saying that there puppies are incorrigible, and nothing can be taught to them. However, that may just not be true, as we will be finding out.

• Communicating with your dog: We should be aware of the fact that dogs do not understand our language. They like to learn more about us by observing our behavior, gestures, voice modulation, facial expressions, etc. Words are just meaningless to them unless they are able to associate a particular gesture with it. For instance, if we want the dog to come out for a walk, one fine day we may say, "Let’s get some fresh air". The next day we might say,"Come out for a walk" and so on and so forth. The dog will not be able to understand what we are speaking if we speak to him in different ways each time. Although, he may understand the gesture of opening the door and looking outside, which he interprets as going out for a walk. To make things easier for your dog to understand, you could use the same commands each time, and ask everyone else to do the same, when you are referring to a specific action to be performed by your dog.

• Little puppies have a faster metabolism: This requires puppies to excrete more often. A puppy at the age of 6 months needs to go out more than once an hour. Since he is growing fast, he needs more food and water, which speeds up his metabolism. This is why your puppy should be allowed to go out of doors more often at this age, more so because puppies love the open environment. Every time your dog sits with the nose touching the ground, it is an indication that he needs to go out. You should also praise him by saying words of encouragement like "WELL done! Boy" or "GOOD boy". This can really lift up the spirits of your dog.

• Dogs want you to be apply with them: All dogs love to be appreciated and shown kindness. No dog would like you to scold him angrily, or to make a grumpy face at him. This would make the dog very sad, and he will follow anything that you ask of him. However, this should not be continued for too long, since dogs lose attention after a while. You may show your approval again by loving him.

Dogs do not need any beating to be trained. They are good at understanding your commands and gestures. Just like a child, loving care can teach the dogs to be efficient and happy.

As a pet owner you need to know all the basic tricks and tactics of Dog Training in order to keep your pet healthy and well mannered. This must specially include potty training, Dog behavior training etc.
