Large numbers of Paris tourists take it for granted that there is only one existing modern art museum in the city.
Really, there are several places in Paris you can visit to see modern art, however, generally speaking there are two museums in Paris that are both known as the Modern Art Museum.
This museum is denoted as the Palace of Modern Art in the city of Paris and is one of the two major places to go in Paris to see modern art. The Modern art museum is really only one part of a much larger palace situated at 11 Avenue du President Wilson, named after the American President during the First World War Woodrow Wilson.
If you're coming to this modern art museum in Paris using the metro system then the closest stations are Iena and Alma Marceau, both only two hundred meters away from the museum.
The Palace of Modern Art through its wide array of collection depicts the various schools of art in France during the 1900s such as Expressionism, Dada, Cubism and Fauvism.
Among the French modern figures highlighted in Palace of Modern Art are Duffy, Modigliani, Soutine, Braque and Picasso.
The Palace of Modern Art is open from Tuesday to Sunday at 10 o'clock in the morning until 5:30 in the afternoon. During weekends, it closes at 6:30. They also conduct temporary exhibits demanding you to pay more to watch it.
The second spot to see modern artworks in Paris is located at the well-known Pompidou Center. It contains 3000 pieces of modern artworks not only from France but various parts of the world. But then it often leases its pieces to other art museums in the city and other parts of the country, so it is best to check with the custodian if you intend to see a particular art piece.
This museum like the other one also displays works of contemporary French artist by holding temporary exhibits, all of which are conducted in the southern wing of the museum. Exact location of this museum is at Rue Saint-Merri.
Paris Rodin museum features a variety of artworks by Auguste Rodin. Also you can visit Paris modern art museums to see numerous modern artworks.
