Training a dog requires patience and skill. If you lack knowledge of why your dog exhibits certain habits, then it will be more difficult for you to effectively train your pet. So if you want to be successful with your training, you have to first gather some information about the natural characteristics of dogs. This should give you a better understanding and more considerate view of your dog's habits, likes and dislikes.
Dogs may have their individual behavioral characteristics, but one thing is for certain, they do not necessarily act like humans. Thus do not expect them to totally understand your every command. They will not act like you as they are not human beings. In fact dogs, if not trained properly, will undoubtedly exhibit bad habits that you will find quite irritating. Thus proper dog training becomes essential in order to help curb these unwanted traits.
Training a dog is not that easy. It is probably easier to teach and train a 5 year old child to dance or sing, in particular because the child will have an innate capacity to understand you. Dogs on the other hand are different. You have to come up with useful and effective strategies or tactics to attract the interest of the dog in order to make it easier to train them.
Allowing your dog to socialize is an essential contribution to the success of your training program. Dog owners underestimate the importance of this activity at their own peril. Allow your dog to investigate different environments. Allow him to become familiar with different events and situations and to discover many things about the world around him. It is clear that dogs who are prohibited from socializing in this way, often encounter fear and uncertainty when exposed to a new environment or situation. This often results in them trying to protect themselves by starting to act aggressively.
Commence by taking your dog for a walk outside the house, perhaps to the wide open space of a park. However, before doing this, you should make sure that the dog is in a settled state, behaving well and is in tip top condition. He must be trained to establish a positive interaction with the different environments that he will encounter. The best time for training a dog is when he is still a puppy. Puppies are more inclined to accept and investigate new environments and situations.
Furthermore, puppies show a faster response to the things that you have taught them. A trainer must possess patience and has to understand why his puppy is exhibiting his current behavior. Initially, the puppy will be unrestrained and do naughty things, but with the correct training these things can be changed or eliminated.
It is important to spend some quality time with your dog. Similar to a human being, dogs are happiest when they find leisure and relaxation. They love to play and particularly enjoy receiving affection. So make an effort to play with your dog at various times during the day. Whenever possible, try to share quality time with him. This is a basic and effective method of coming to a relationship understanding with your pet. Training a dog may seem to be a tough job, but completing a successful training program, you'll know it has all been worthwhile.
