A great way to spend your summer with your family is to take them on a deep sea fishing charter. For the families that live on the coasts, this is likely something you have already experienced. There is nothing quite like being on a boat in the midst of the salt wind and waves with the anticipation and competition of reeling in the biggest fish on the trip! Even the smallest child can participate and potentially win this challenge. One thing is for certain, everyone will have a blast.
If you have never had the opportunity to fish for bluefish, begin planning your deep sea fishing trip now because you are missing out on great fun. Blue fish are not only great to eat but they are extremely exciting to catch as they are known for putting up quite a fight. Weighing somewhere in the neighborhood of 7 to 11 pounds, can even get as large as 30 pounds or more. Once they take your bait, you can be sure that you are in for a wrestling match for at least 20 minutes before that fish is yours. You will certainly get a nice full body workout reeling these fish in, so no need for a trip to the gym that day. Some families have ended up heading home with as many as 20 fish!
However, many families like to teach their children that what they catch, they eat. This could mean freezing some fillets and eating fish for many months if you insist on carrying home as many as 20 fish. Some people end up inviting extended family over upon returning for fish fry picnics in the backyard. This is a perfect way to celebrate the end of a fishing trip. Pair your fish with salads, corn on the cob and a few drinks and you will find many other family members wanting to join you on the trip next year.
There are many ways you can cook up bluefish. Some people roll them in bread crumbs and panko, others prefer to grill them with lemon zest and tequila. Sometimes a simple sauce of butter and wine will suit the palate nicely as well. Wrap the fish fillets in aluminum foil with your sauce of choice. Throw in some veggies like onions, tomatoes and peppers. Seal up the aluminum pouch and throw them on the grill.
Once the fish are done, all you have to do is open up that packet and grab a fork. No need for plates here, just dig right in! Whatever you haven’t eaten at the end of your picnic goes in the freezer for another day.
