Celebrates Survivors, Memorializes Those Who Have Died

Early Registration Ends Saturday, Aug. 7

August 3, 2010/Denver, Colo. — Help your best friend live a longer, healthier life! Join Morris Animal Foundation and Colorado dog lovers at the 2nd annual K9 Cancer Walk at Stanley Park in Estes Park, Colorado, on Saturday, August 21. Discounted early registration closes Saturday, August 7, and is $30 for adults and $15 for children ages 10 to 17, children under 10 are free. After August 7, registration will be $35 per adult and $20 per child, ages 10 to 17. Online registration will remain open until Thursday, August 19, at 5 p.m. All funds raised for this event will benefit Morris Animal Foundation’s Canine Cancer Campaign.

The Foundation hopes to raise $30,000 in this year’s K9 Cancer Walk in Estes Park and has raised over $20,000 so far. To participate in the K9 Cancer Walk, visit www.K9CancerWalk.org.

Walk-day registration opens at 8:00 a.m. The event includes a 4K lake walk starting at 9:00 a.m., followed by a canine cancer educational program. Participants will also have a chance to visit with vendors from across Colorado.

All canine cancer research supporters who are not able to attend the walk in Estes Park are encouraged to participate in Sit & Stay, which gives dog lovers a chance to virtually participate in the walk—and help dogs enjoy longer, healthier lives from the comfort of their couch.

Estes Park K9 Cancer Walk sponsors include Eukanuba, 9NEWS, KBCO, Chuck Latham Associates, Inc, Cru Vin Dogs Wine Group, Colorado Paw Pages, PetTales.TV and Fetch Magazine.

An estimated 50 percent of all dogs will battle cancer. It is the No. 1 cause of death in dogs over the age of 2. MAF launched the K9 Cancer Walk program as a way to raise funds for its Canine Cancer Campaign, which funds prevention and treatment research to help dogs enjoy longer, healthier, cancer-free lives. Participating in this walk is a great way to memorialize a beloved dog lost to cancer or create a brighter future for a current canine companion.
