Japanese is one of the harder languages to learn (if it is not your native tongue of course). If you are serious about learning Japanese then you must become accustomed to their alphabet and vocabulary which is far different from what you are used to. Most likely, you will feel like you are in over your head in the beginning of your learning process. Learning Japanese is the same as learning any other language, as long as you remember that the process is the same for learning Spanish as it is for learning Japanese then you won't having any problems with becoming a fluent speaker. Read on to discover some of the most effective methods to apply to learning this exciting new language.
You should get some Anime shows and watch them! By doing this, you can relax and have fun while your mind picks up some Japanese. You have probably heard of Anime; they are simply Japanese animated programs and movies. This form of entertainment is now available all over the English-speaking world, either dubbed or in Japanese with subtitles in English. You can usually find anime online or in your favorite video rental establishment. You have to find shows that are in Japanese with subtitles, so you can listen and read the subtitles. By simply watching and listening, you will develop a vocabulary and discover how phrases are used. You'll probably have more fun with this method of learning Japanese than any other! There are quite a few good Anime programs available, including Fullmetal Alchemist, Trigun and Cowboy Bebop.
Get a tutor. Even if you sign up for classes, you should make sure to work with a tutor.
Japanese is a difficult language to learn and being able to work with a fluent speaker and writer one on one, will help your learning process quite a lot. You will find that your tutor will be able to assess your progress and work to overcome any areas where you need more work; you will then be able to use Japanese on your own more quickly. Your tutor will also probably be able to give you some special tips that will enable you to remember more of what you are learning.
Flash Cards are a good idea. Japanese is a complicated language, and you will really need a few sets of flash cards for different purposes. One flash card set can help you remember vocabulary and basic grammar. You also want to be able to read in Japanese, so you should have flash cards that teach you how to form and understand all the characters of the alphabet.
To work with the flash cards, use on side for the Japanese and the other for the phonetic pronunciation. When using several sets of flash cards, it's important to keep them separated; mixing them up could cause confusion!
