Italy is certainly one of the world’s most exciting holiday destinations. Italy has so much to offer vacationers, ranging from its rich culture to ancient history to scenic landscapes and a plethora of exhilarating activities for visitors all around the country. Air travel is the most convenient and widely used means of transport to the country, though it is also possible to get there by sea, rail and road.
The weather in Italy is generally conducive for vacationers, most times of the year. The best time to visit however is between the months of April and June. Temperatures are warm, but not too hot at this time of the year. It is coldest between October and December. Rental bungalows and apartments are also on offer. Once settled in, you will have the opportunity to explore Italy’s beauty. The most popular destinations are Rome, Venice, Florence and Milan. Each of these cities has unique sites, which include historic monuments such as cathedrals and basilicas. Rome is particularly famous for its ancient structures, some more than 2000 years old. The Vatican hosts the grand St. Peters Basilica. Tuscany is a very popular tourist destination, found in central Italy. The picturesque landscape, beautiful towns and villages are a sight to behold. Florence, one of the country’s most popular cities is located in the heart of Tuscany.
If you're looking for a food and wine vacation experience, visit Piedmont. This area is famous for its wines made from Nebbiolo grapes. While you're at it, you can explore attractions such as museums and modern cultural art centers in the city of Turin. While in Italy, make a point to sample their world famous delicacies, including pizza and pasta.
A vacation to Italy is not complete without a visit to the Alps. You can go skiing in the country’s popular ski resorts such as Bardonechia and Sestriere in Piedmont, as well as Courmayeur, Cervinia and La Thuile in the Aosta Valley. Capri Island is also a great destination. Take a boat ride to the Blue Grotto, popular for the blue lights radiating from the water. Wildlife viewing is yet another activity to undertake in Italy. The National Park of Abruzzo, the Gran Paradiso National Park and Mont Avic Regional Park are some of the places you need to visit. You get to see a variety of wild animals that include chamois, ibex, brown bears and wolves. For those who love mountain climbing, the Dolomite Mountains present an exciting opportunity for that activity. Water sports are popular in the Italian Riviera, the Adriatic coast and the extensive sandy beaches of Sicily.
