Looe is a stunning village right along the Cornish coast line which is well known for its fishing harbour. It was an important location in the Middle Ages and during the French wars in the 19th century, Looe continued to be active through shipping stone and copper from the quarries and mines in the north. Any visitor to Looe can enjoy a guided tour around East Looe's narrow streets and courtyards or visit the 16th century Old Guildhall Museum, or view Looe's maritime past at the Living from the Sea exhibition, or relax and on the sandy beach or on the Banjo Pier.
During summer days there are boat trips available to the little island just off the coast which is known as Looe’s island, which used to belong to the Abbot of Glastonbury. For the adventurous ones, there are fishing trips where visitors may be lucky to see sharks. A train journey on the Looe Valley Line will take you to the ancient stone circle at Duloe, the holy well at St Keynes, and Paul Corin's Music Machines.
Looe is known by all to be the perfect fishing village. Some of the most popular activities to do in Looe are that you can take some wonderful walks along the most beautiful coastline and even go on boat trips and also shark fishing which has proven to be absolutely popular with tourists of all ages. Travelling east along the coast, you can view the Amazon woolly monkeys in the protected breeding colony of the Monkey Sanctuary. You can also relax and laze on the beaches of Millendreath and Seaton and beyond Downderry the road runs along the cliffs through the village of Crafthole, standing high above the tiny harbor of Portwrinkle, a former fishing hamlet.
