Being a mom means being on your toes 24/7. Not only are you chasing after toddlers, changing diapers or styling thin, wispy hair, you are also cleaning the house, doing the laundry and cooking dinner. For working moms, it gets even more complicated. The bottom line is that there is hardly any time for yourself, because now it’s all about the little ones.
But you can still be a super mom without ending up looking like a damsel in distress by giving your own style an instant update. The fastest, easiest way to do that is through accessorizing! Simply putting on the right accessories is a great way for any mom to give her look a boost for a lot less time and money. You can breathe new life into an old dress by simply throwing on a trendy chain necklace, and styling your hair differently with fashionable hair accessories. It’s quick, easy and will not cause a dent in your budget—perfect for moms who are on the go.
Accessorizing can be tricky, though. You can’t just randomly don something. You have to know how to coordinate accessories with what you are wearing so that they can perfectly complement your over-all look. Here are basic tips for you to accessorize with style:
What time is it? To help you decide what accessories to wear, consider the time of day and the place you are going to. A daytime look usually calls for simple accessories in gold or silver, or even pearls. A nighttime look calls for a little more sparkle! Give your tresses a romantic look by putting on a sophisticated headband embellished with crystals. It’s both fashionable and yet it’s not over-the-top, and even celebrities wear them.
Less is more. A common mistake that people make is putting on too many accessories. One gorgeous statement piece is usually enough to hold your entire look together. But if you really must use more than one, remember the Rule of Three: wear no more than three accessories at a time. Simple hair accessories, like headbands, count!
Determine your body shape. This will not only help when accessorizing, it will help you develop your look in general. For accessories, you will want sizes that match your frame. Big accessories will suit a big frame. If you have a small frame and you put on large chunky accessories, they might end up overwhelming you. People tend to look at your accessories. So if you would like to draw attention to your face, a pair of sparkly earrings or a stylish hair clip will do the trick. This is also a good way to divert the eyes away from areas on your body that you may not want to highlight.
Creativity is Key. Try to be as creative as you can so you won’t have to keep buying new accessories each season. Think of new ways to use what you already have in your jewelry box, and change up the way you wear them or the clothes that you pair them with.
Motherhood is a demanding job that often leaves little room for glamour. But you can change that! Bring back the fashionable while still being the great mom that you are. Learning how to accessorize is one of the simple ways that you can use to look good and feel good about yourself. From jewelry to headbands to belts, one thing to keep in mind is: keep it simple and fun!
