The days of the baby boom are behind us and the days of the baby music boom are here. Past selections for children's music seemed designed to drive parents insane, but not anymore! Now there's children's music that parents will love too.

Here are some stimulating musical selections that will keep your baby bouncing, your toddler's toes tapping, and your preschooler rocking - and it's all music you can enjoy as well!

Baby Einstein: Despite the fact that Disney offered refunds for Baby Einstein DVDs, the Baby Einstein music CDs offer babies a pleasant introduction to classical music. The Baby Mozart CD features child-friendly musical selections from The Magic Flute and other famous Mozart compositions.

Laurie Berkner: You and your little one can get your folk on with these lovely original tunes from kids music megastar Laurie Berkner. Berkner was already a big name with babies and their parents when one of her songs was selected for an episode of 'Sex And The City' in 2003; appearing on the popular HBO show brought her even wider acclaim. A great choice for baby music that can remain in your child's musical rotation for many years.

Raffi: Raffi was making baby music before most of us were making babies; they sang 'Baby Beluga' on an episode of 'Full House' way back in 1990. The 'Baby Beluga' CD is a classic, and the tunes are pleasant without being repetitive. If you and your child decide that you enjoy Raffi's music, the granddaddy of baby tunes has a deep catalog to keep your ears happy for many years.

The Dirty Sock Funtime Band: If Raffi is the Bob Dylan of baby music, The Dirty Sock Funtime Band is the kiddie rock Frank Zappa. Your young ones may have seen them on 'Jack's Big Music Show.' With wacky song titles like 'Rage Against the Time Machine' and 'Donut Brain Aliens' (from their new CD 'Sock-A-Delic'), the Dirty Socks will keep your kids rocking until they're old enough to understand the lyrics. They may not notice the intricate time-signatures and deft musical feats rarely found on children's CDs, but grown-ups will appreciate how different the Dirty Socks' songs are from most of the kiddie music on the market.

Dan Zanes: Zanes was the frontman for The Del Fuegos back in the 1980's. After he and his wife had a baby, he started making music with other fathers in his neighborhood, which led to Zane's new status as the Bard of Brooklyn, singing songs that the New York Times says work "because it is not kids music; it's just music." Grown-up guest stars abound on Zanes' many CDs. 'Night Time' features contributions from Aimee Mann and Lou Reed; the grammy-winning 'Catch That Train' has musical assistance from Natalie Merchant, Nick Cave and The Blind Boys of Alabama.
