"They said build it and people will come". Hmmph. "You know I have spent so many years and invested so much time, money and energy learning all these skills and qualifications and yet nobody appreciates it".

You've found me talking to Dawn, a therapist in the lovely Borders of Scotland. Dawn was undoubtedly very talented and contentious, with lots to offer. But she continued, being fantastic at what I do is not much help if nobody is listening. I so want to help people, I know that I can help them, but they don't believe or they just ain't listening. Oh it's so frustrating. I reckon that if I can't make this work this year, then that will be it, I'll just need to give up, go back to employment, some dead end job.

My heart went out to her. I looked around me at her little therapy room and out in to the reception area beyond. It really was a lovely little haven she had created and there was no doubt that she had put a lot of love and energy, not to mention time and money into it.

Look at my diary she continued, empty, she flicked a page, empty, she flicked again, one appointment, flick, empty, one appointment, flick. She continued, next week I have got a chance to go on an interesting sounding course, but where do you draw the line? I cannot keep investing more money on more courses, only to then trade therapy appointments with my friends. I have GOT to earn some money here, and quick. I knew had to interrupt her, she was in a spiral.

HERE, I said, what if you just STOP for a moment and listen to this.
